PROGRAM NOTES
A highlight of Ovations’ 2020-21 virtual season, the Fauré Quartett returns live with a program of works composed by Gabriel Fauré, Gustav Mahler and Johannes Brahms all specifically for piano quartet instrumentation. Founded in 1995 and named in honor of the French composer, the Fauré Quartett quickly established itself as one of the world’s leading piano quartets and continue to perform with all four original founding members, Dirk Mommertz (piano), Erika Geldsetzer (violin), Sascha Frömbling (viola) and Konstantin Heidrich (cello). Visionary in their approach and highly regarded for their experiments and challenges to the form, Fauré Quartett bring refreshing and new energy to chamber music.
