ABOUT OPHELIA

Ophelia has been performing as a drag queen for 7 years and has lived in Maine her entire life. She’s always down to entertain and bring a smile to everyone’s face. She was named Portland’s best drag personality 2018 & 2022. She’s an avid reader and loves going on a journey through reading.

ABOUT OURSHELVES

LGBTQ+-owned and Maine-based, OurShelves is a diverse children’s book box service offering expert-curated diverse books to families, schools, community centers, and service providers working to ensure that their children’s book collections cultivate their values of equity, inclusion, social justice, joy, and fun! LGBTQ+ parent Alli Harper founded OurShelves because it can be much too hard to find high-quality kids’ books that both affirm LGBTQ+ families like hers as well many other under-represented kids and families.

New York Times/Wirecutter and Parents Magazine-recommended, OurShelves offers books both that children love — and that feature racially, ethnically, and religiously diverse, LGBTQ+, feminist, and other characters and families who remain under-represented in children’s books. The OurShelves Curation Team of experts selects books by age (for ages 0-8) for its quarterly subscriptionsone-time Mega Boxes, and other community partnerships including book fairs.

Drag Storytime is supported in part by a grant from the Maine Community Foundation Equity Fund
