Portland Ovations started the Seeking Resonance series in 2016 as an exploration and celebration of performance inspired by religious and spiritual life. Over time, the series evolved to embrace a larger desire to find and make meaningful connections. To resonate.
Today, Seeking Resonance is about our deep need to find “home”: a space and place that, in its resonance, makes us feel whole – where we feel joyful, safe, valued and loved. And where at other times we can turn inward to connect with our true selves.
In partnership with Indigo Arts Alliance and in collaboration with Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center, we invite you to travel the world – from stories of migration to African diasporic artforms – with the many Black, Brown and Indigenous peoples, cultures and artistic expressions that make up our global communities.
By honoring our differences and appreciating our similarities, we hold the possibility of deeper resonance: connections with each other and better understandings of the many communities that make our world a better place, where everyone can experience what it means to arrive “home.”
Seldom have we felt our yearning to be together, to experience joy, wellbeing and abundance as fully. Indeed, we are all seeking resonance.
