What is the difference between a Portland Ovations Membership and a donation?
Membership is a donor program that provides Members with benefits including discounts, enhanced communications, and greater flexibility, while also supporting Portland Ovations, our presentations, and our work in the community.
How much does a Membership cost?
Membership begins at $25. You can choose what level is meaningful to you.
What happens with the donation from my Membership?
Your Membership directly supports our community enrichment initiatives, including School-Time Performances for 10,000 students annually, free books for students, new work commissions, support for emerging artists, family-friendly programming, and ASL interpretation at performances.
When does my Membership start?
Membership begins the day your donation is processed.
How long does my membership last?
There is no specific annual cycle. A Portland Ovations Membership is good for one year from the date you become a Member.
Does Membership include the whole household?
Yes it does. Everyone who resides in your household is part of your Membership.
Is my Membership tax deductible?
Yes. Your Membership is fully tax-deductible to the extent allowable by U.S. law, minus the fair market value of any benefits you receive. We will send you an acknowledgment letter for your gift that can be saved for tax purposes.
How do I know when my Membership is expiring?
You will receive a Membership renewal notice two months prior to your expiration date. You can also call Portland Ovations to find out that information.

Equal benefits regardless of contribution amount reflects our steadfast dedication to inclusivity, diversity, equity, and access.
What do I get as Membership benefits?
As a Portland Ovations Member, you’ll enjoy advanced ticketing for all performances, a $5 savings on each ticket, and access to Members-only events, artist receptions, and the annual Season Announcement party. Plus, with unlimited ticket exchanges, complimentary tickets to select performances, and sell-out warnings, you can tailor your experience to suit your preferences.
How to do I claim my Membership benefits?
To claim your Portland Ovations Member benefits, first make sure your Membership is active. Then, log in to your account on the Portland Ovations website. Look for the section on Member benefits, where you’ll find discounts, early ticket access, and more. Follow the instructions provided to redeem your benefits, which might involve entering a promo code or RSVPing to special events. If you need help, reach out to Portland Ovations’ customer support for assistance.
Do I get a Membership discount?
Yes, Ovations Members receive at $5 discount on every ticket purchased.
Why do all Members get the same benefits?
As a Maine nonprofit with a deep commitment to equity and access, all Members receive the same benefits, regardless of gift size.
Do I have to renew my Membership each year?
Yes, Membership renewals are annual based on the date your Membership started. You will receive communication regarding renewal.
