"A disability arts ensemble whose work is made by and for disabled people, [Kinetic Light] has an ethic and aesthetic of access that is exceptionally thoughtful and thorough.”

The groundbreaking work TERRITORY from self-described disabled dance company Kinetic Light is redefining what dance can be through cutting-edge technology and radically inclusive design. Set in a post-apocalyptic, futuristic world shaped by human-made barriers and borders, this immersive VR aerial and contemporary dance performance envelops audiences in movement, light, vibration, and spatialized sound, offering multiple sensory entry points that are not translations, but integral artistic expressions in their own right. Blending immersive cinematography, dance, animation, visual effects, science fiction, fantasy, and subtle elements of horror, TERRITORY invites audiences into the role of “witness,” where the impact of barbed wire is felt both physically and metaphorically. Dance Informa highlights Kinetic Light’s pioneering integration of access features, including multitrack audio description, creative captioning, and haptics, built into the creative process itself. The result is a lush, boundary-pushing experience that merges art and access into a single, transformative vision.
