Accessibility – Live at Madrid’s

Portland Ovations welcomes people of all abilities to our performances and programs, both digital and in person. Ovations presents in multiple platforms and in multiple venues in the Greater Portland area, and it is a priority for us that all our events be ADA-compliant. We  all deserve access, and all have different access needs.

Accessibility at Live at Madrid's

Parking & Public Bussing
Live at Madrid’s is located at 144 Fore St, Portland, ME. It is most closely accessible to Portland’s 8 bus line (closest stop Commercial St/India St). Click here to plan your trip through Greater Portland Metro. Additionally, the University of Southern Maine’s dedicated Husky Line bus service provides transportation from the University’s Gorham and Portland campuses throughout Portland and Westbrook, stopping just outside the venue on Hancock St/Thames St. Click here to view the schedule and learn more about the service.

There is a large parking lot directly outside of the venue. The paved area is privately owned and managed by UPP Global. Spots within this area must be paid 24/7 via onsite kiosk.

The adjacent Thames St Parking Lot is located at 70 Thames Street, right in front of venue. This lot is owned by the City of Portland and must be paid at onsite kiosk with credit card or by phone with Passport App.

Accessible Parking spots are located within the parking lot at 1 Hancock Street, outside of the Maine Academy of Modern Music and the Thames Street Lot.

There is ample metered street parking in the neighborhood, free after 7 PM and on Sundays.

There are also several parking garages/lots nearby. Please be mindful of signage and fees.

  • Ocean Gateway Garage – 167 Fore Street
  • The Roux Institute Garage – 100 Fore Street
  • Ocean Gateway Parking Lot – 2 Commercial Street

EV charging stations are available in front of the WEX building, directly across from the venue entrance.

Building Entry
The building entrance is paved with stairs and a ramp off the main parking lot. The ramp can be accessed via a paved walkway along the building, directly adjacent to the accessible parking spots.

Coat Check is located within the Box Office. Prices are $3 for coats, $2 for bags, and $1 for additional items. This service is cash only.

Ticketing & Box Office
PortTIX mobile box office will be located directly inside the main venue doors. The box office offers ticket sales and will-call pickup one hour prior to the start of the performance. Regular PortTIX hours are Monday through Friday from 11AM – 3PM located at 400 Congress Street in Portland.

Mobile tickets are also issued and can be accessed through your email. The QR code typically cannot be printed, so you MUST bring a mobile phone to the event on which to display the email with the Mobile Tickets for entry. Mobile tickets are sent to your email the day of purchase. To locate them in your inbox search ‘Your Mobile Tickets’, it will come from boxoffice@porttix.com.

Restrooms
There are two gendered restrooms with multiple stalls. Each is equipped with two Accessible stalls.

Seating Details
Live at Madrid’s is general admission, standing venue.

There is a dedicated area with freestanding chairs and space for wheelchairs/companion seating located along the House Right side of the performance space. Patrons wishing to reserve a spot in this section should contact the PortTIX box office in advance of the performance to ensure any needs are met. This can be done by calling 207.842.0800 or emailing boxoffice@porttix.com.

Assisted Listening & Ear Protection
Assistive Listening Devices are not available at this venue. Ear plugs are available from members of the house staff.

Sign Language Interpretation
ASL interpretation for performances is available upon request. Please contact Portland Ovations’ Accessibility Coordinator, Katelyn Manfre at kmanfre@portlandovations.org or 207.773.3150, ext. 7 for more information, or fill out our Access Request Form to request these services.

Sensory Friendly Spaces
Should patrons wish to leave the main space during the performance, they are welcome to utilize the Lounge area, or step outside to the patio.

Service Animals
Service animals are always welcome, and this venue offers easy access to the outdoors. We ask that animals be kept on a leash or harness at all times. Patrons can contact Live at Madrid’s Assistant Manager, Amber (amber@liveatmadrids.com) with any questions about service animal accommodation.

Food & Drink
Live at Madrid’s has a full bar, which includes soft drinks, canned water, and pre-packaged snacks available for purchase. Patrons will need a valid ID to purchase alcohol.

There is a free, self-serve water cooler with cups available at the bar.
