The Ovations Offstage Department is so grateful for all of the participants who came to our first professional development offering for the season on “Creating a Storytelling and Movement-based PreK-2nd grade Classroom to Support Early Literacy” downtown on Saturday, September 16. Participants from schools all over Southern Maine representing home schools, preschools, and elementary school classrooms learned firsthand how our teaching artists engage students in story through dynamic storytelling, and improv. Our upcoming School-time performance; I Love My Little Storybook and Guess How Much I Love You was the anchor text for the workshop. Attendees then had time to apply their learning to future lesson plans to take back to their peers that we workshopped together. The latter part of the day was spent learning how to create hands on art activities to create props to communicate character and setting in the story. This workshop was made possible in part from a Maine Arts Commission grant.
Are you an educator? Do you have a little one in elementary school? If so we have a VERY SPECIAL and VERY BRIEF discount on our first two School-Time Performances: I Love My Little Storybook and Guess How Much I Love You for $6 for the PreK-2 set, and The Money Tree for grades 2-6 for $5.
USE the promo code fall to receive this special pricing.
Please pass along this information to your child’s school and help us to bring live performing arts with a strong literacy connect.
