Composers for the piano have long drawn inspiration from orchestral colors and textures. Laura Kargul Professor of Music at USM discusses and demonstrates how the piano functions as a complete “orchestra” in the hands of great composers, and the ways in which a pianist can bring “the orchestra in the piano” to life.
