ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Daniel Bernard Roumain Known for his signature violin sounds infused with myriad electronic, urban, and African-American music influences, DBR takes his genre-bending music beyond the proscenium.
Nyamoun Nguany Machar – AKA Moon, first joined Ovations for our FREEDOM WALK in November 2019. For the past ten years she has worked to advocate for disproportionate and minority youth in the mental health field. In 2019, Moon was the recipient of the rising Advocate award from the Bazelon Center in Washington DC and the Diaspora Award from the Luol Deng foundation for advocacy work around South Sudan. A spoken word poet, Moon works as a teacher for The Telling Room.
Namory Keita, Master Village Drummer – is a sought after Master Drummer with a unique style and a wealth of traditional knowledge very rare to find outside the villages of Guinea, West Africa. His resources include not only his wonderful ability to engage any audience but also his relationships with dancers and drummers both locally and around the world.
Alejandro Graciano – Born in the South Pacific Coast of Mexico, Alejandro has developed his own style of guitar playing. Mixing Latin and African blues music with original poetry, Alejandro shares a unique form of self-expression and storytelling with the world.
Palaver Strings Duo – Elizabeth Moore, Viola & Brianna Fischler, Viola. Palaver Strings is a musician-led string ensemble and nonprofit organization based in Portland, ME. Founded in 2014, Palaver has established itself as a forward-thinking ensemble whose mission is rooted in community and creative programming.
