“Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella” : Offstage Activities

What comes to mind when you hear the word Cinderella? Do you break out in “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo?” Or are you more of a Rodgers + Hammerstein fan? Is Helena Bonham Carter or Whitney Houston your favorite portrayal of the Fairy Godmother? Perhaps the more gruesome Brothers Grim version of the story is more appealing? In the Irish version, “Ashey Pelt” is the protagonist’s name, while in the Native American version “Rough-Faced Girl” must pass a test of character instead of fitting into a glass slipper to become the royal bride. At this evening workshop, Ovations Offstage welcomes Cinderella enthusiasts ages 8 and above to explore multiple meanings and versions of the story with read aloud, film clips and other arts-related activities in preparation for our February 2 and 3 presentation of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella at Merrill Auditorium.

This even is Free and open to the public. Space is limited to forty participants. One family will win tickets (up to four) to the performance in a raffle. Winner needs to be present to win.
