One of the most celebrated and influential string quartets of our time, the Grammy-Award-winning Kronos Quartet is known for their extraordinary breadth and creativity. Musical America’s Musicians of the Year for 2003, Kronos’ adventurous, eclectic repertoire encompasses works by 20th-century masters such as Bartók and Shostakovich; contemporary composers like Terry Riley and Franghiz Ali-Zadeh; jazz legends Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk; and artists from even farther afield – like Jimi Hendrix and Asha Bhosle. The evening’s program, Music Without Borders, is quintessential Kronos, featuring music from Ethiopia, India, Palestine and many other places across the globe.
