Hannaford Hall, USM, Portland, Maine

The St. Lawrence String Quartet is one of the most distinguished string quartets of its generation. Their recordings have garnered many accolades, including the prestigious German critics’ award, the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, a Canadian Juno Award, and two Grammy nominations. Known for its commitment to the works of emerging and living composers, the St. Lawrence marks its 20th anniversary performing John Adams’s new String Quartet, composed especially for the quartet by the world-renowned New England native, as well as String Quartet in C-sharp minor, Op. 131 by Ludwig van Beethoven.
