Paul Lewis piano

Wednesday, May 6, 2009   7:30 pm Merrill Auditorium, Portland, Maine
A bright new star in the musical firmament, pianist Paul Lewis appears regularly at the world’s major music venues and festivals. His highly acclaimed Schubert piano sonata series have won him wide acclaim and his thrilling recordings of this repertoire went on to score two prestigious Edison awards in Holland. A consummate artist, his formidable musical intelligence and audaciously fresh approach to music-making lend his readings particular strength. His Portland program includes Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations and Schubert’s Impromptus. PCA is delighted to bring Mr. Lewis for what we hope will be the first of many Maine performances through his already distinguished career.
