The Occidental Brothers Dance Band International performs Central and West African dance music, specializing in high energy soukous, rootsy Ghananian Highlife, African jazz, rumba, and other styles from the great continent. Calling upon their backgrounds in traditional African music, jazz, and underground rock, OBDBI conjures up the golden age of the African guitar band—making the global ensemble favorites of music critics and devotees of the style. Band leader guitarist Nathaniel Braddock is joined by jazz phenom Greg Ward on alto, Joshua Ramos on bass, Makaya McCraven on drums, and Congolese singer Samba Mapangala, one of the true legends of African music.
