Excellent voices, a skilled orchestra and wonderful production design come together for one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s all time comedic favorites, The Mikado, where love, heartache and folly collide in imperial Japan. Performed by the esteemed New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, the story follows Nanki-Poo, the son of the Mikado of Japan who flees to escape an arranged marriage with an old woman. While masquerading as a traveling musician, he falls in love with Yum Yum, who is also betrothed to another. Nanki-Poo continues to pursue Yum Yum, and drama ensues.
